Dr. Smeltzer is a Knoxville native who is grateful for the opportunity to return to his hometown to practice family medicine.
A graduate of Central High School, he received his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science and Psychology from The University of Tennessee. He then attended The Via College of Osteopathic Medicine at Virginia Tech before moving to Columbia, SC to complete his internship and residency training at The University of South Carolina, where, during his final year of training, he served as Chief Resident.
A third-generation UT graduate, Dr. Smeltzer, and his family are excited to be part of this wonderful community. When he is not busy seeing patients or playing with his three daughters, this outdoor enthusiast can usually be found hiking, camping, attending UT sporting events, and riding his road bike on the rolling hills of Downtown and West Knoxville.
