Dr. Lauren Thoma grew up in Louisiana and Texas and obtained her undergraduate degree from Centenary College of Louisiana, where she played Division I women’s soccer for 4 years. She graduated with a degree in neuroscience and a minor in psychology, then attended medical school at Louisiana State University Health in Shreveport.
She and her husband, Thomas, who is also from Louisiana, were thrilled to move to Knoxville to complete her family medicine residency at the University of Tennessee. She enjoyed her time at UT and was a Chief Resident in her final year of training. She and her husband truly enjoyed their time in Knoxville for residency and are happy to now call it their home.
She and Thomas have two children. They enjoy going to the parks around Knoxville and spend their time hiking in the beautiful Smoky Mountains, as well as enjoying all the festivals, music, sports, and outdoor activities that Knoxville has to offer.
Dr. Thoma practices full spectrum family medicine with special interests in women’s health, diabetes, hypertension, and preventative care.
